# Update a branch

**PATCH** `/v1/branches/{branchId}`

Promotes a Branch to be the Project's default. Only isDefault is mutable — gitName rename and role changes are rejected.

## Authorization

Any ONE of the following options authorizes this operation; every scheme listed within an option is required together.
