Learn how to add the Prisma MCP server to ChatGPT to manage your databases and Compute deployments.

Connect ChatGPT to the Prisma MCP server to manage Prisma Postgres databases, Prisma Compute deployments, and Object Storage.

This guide explains how to add the Prisma MCP server to ChatGPT and use it through natural language prompts.

With the Prisma MCP server connected, you can manage resources in your selected workspace from the chat interface. The server supports:

• Database management: Create, list, and delete your Prisma Postgres databases.
• Connection strings: Generate, list, and revoke database connection strings.
• Backup and recovery: List automated database backups and restore a backup into a new database.
• Schema and data interaction: Execute SQL queries and introspect your database schema to understand its structure.
• Workspace information: Fetch details about your Prisma workspace.
• Compute deployments: List apps and builds, read runtime logs, manage existing deployments, and set environment variables.
• Composer projects: Inspect how your services connect and get links to the project and apps in Prisma Console.
• Object Storage: Create, list, and delete buckets, and manage bucket access keys.

• A Prisma account and access to a workspace.
• Access to ChatGPT's Developer mode. Check the OpenAI documentation for supported plans and access requirements.

1. Open ChatGPT and go to Settings.
2. Select Security and login and turn on Developer mode.

1. Open [ChatGPT Plugins](https://chatgpt.com/plugins) and select the **+** button.
2. Enter https://mcp.prisma.io/mcp as the MCP server URL, name the connection Prisma, and select OAuth authentication.
3. Complete the connection prompts. When asked to authorize access, sign in with Prisma, select a workspace, and approve access.
4. Finish creating the plugin. It should appear in your personal plugins.

These steps follow OpenAI's plugin setup guide. If your ChatGPT interface differs, use that guide for the current navigation.

1. Open Prisma in [your personal plugins](https://chatgpt.com/plugins?view=personal) and select **+** to install it.
2. Return to ChatGPT, switch from Chat to Work, and start a new chat.
3. Type @, select Prisma, and ask: "List the databases in my Prisma workspace."

ChatGPT should call the database-list tool and return the databases in the workspace you selected, or an empty list if it has none.

Review the workspace and target resources before approving changes. Some tools can permanently delete data or stop a live deployment.
